Exploring Beauty: Her Self-Image, Attitudes
and Beliefs (Spring 2006)

By BuzzBack Market Research

Who is she? How does she describe herself? This new BuzzBack exploratory study examines the use of beauty products including cosmetics, skin and hair care products. Using our proprietary eCollage tool, perceptions and emotional attitudes of how women feel about their personal appearance on an average day are revealed, along with personal and emotional insights that motivate them. Conducted among 1,059 women, ages 25-64 and with a sample representative of the US census on age, gender and ethnicity, findings on specific target groups are segmented, including age, ethnicity and household income. "The collage represents an average day of work. I work in construction and identify with the paint brush, colors, and the carpenter. It is a bright collage with the images of the sun, at mid-day and at sunset, I feel bright and cheery every day. The smiles represent a day filled with laughter and I feel good about myself and my appearance when I laugh and smile. My personal appearance always includes my eyes being made up and bright. My eyes are my best feature and that is why I used so many of them. The girl hiding in the shadows behind her hands represents the end of the day when I am worn out, have worked hard, and don't want anyone to see me until I have gone home and showered and feel human again."

"'Laugh and the world laughs with you' would be the title. The main theme would have to be that on an average day I feel bright, cheery, and pretty darn good."
